Dozens of Palestinian refugees closed on Monday UNRWA’s headquarters in Gaza city in protest at the Israeli siege and the worsening electricity crisis.
During a sit-in organized in front of UNRWA’s headquarters, Palestinians called on the Agency to shoulder its responsibilities toward refugees in light of the tough economic and living conditions they are experiencing due to the Israeli blockade.
The participants asked UNRWA to take practical steps to lift the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip and find solutions for the power crisis.
Popular committees for refugees in Gaza announced on Sunday that starting from Monday UNRWA’s headquarters will be closed until further notice.
They affirmed that this move comes as part of a series of protest steps taken by the committees against UNRWA in view of its failure to meet refugees’ demands with regard to the ongoing electricity crisis.
