In the name of Allah the most Merciful
Issued by the Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas”
On the 48th anniversary of the burning of Al-Aqsa Mosque
On this day in 1969, Al-Aqsa Mosque was severely damaged after the Zionist criminal, Denis Michael Rohan, burned the holy site. The fire torched Salah El-Deen’s podium which has always been an icon of victory and liberation.
On this year’s anniversary we confirm the following:
First: We pay our tributes to the people of Jerusalem who have showed great courage and steadfastness in resisting the Israeli Occupation’s plots of seizing Al-Aqsa Mosque, Judaizing it and distorting its historical reality.
Second: Al-Aqsa Mosque and other holy sites across Palestine continue to be desecrated by the Israeli Occupation who has no respect for the religious value these sites hold.
Third: Al-Aqsa Mosque is in a vulnerable state following the normalization that is taking place between the Arab, Islamic regimes and the Israeli Occupation. Such ties will further endanger Al-Aqsa Mosque and will distance the latter regimes from their religious, moral and national obligations they have towards Al-Aqsa Mosque and Palestine in general.
Fourth: The wounds which this anniversary opens are still fresh and are deeply rooted in the hearts of the Palestinian people. The wounds will only be closed once Palestine witnesses its liberation from the brutal Israeli Occupation who has denied Muslims, Christians and original Jews the basic rights they enjoyed before 1948.
Fifth: The crimes of the Israeli Occupation and its continuous violations against our people, our land and our holy sites will only reinforce our stance in not recognizing the Zionist entity upon Palestinian land. We will also continue with armed resistance as a way to defend our people and ultimately liberate Palestine.
