Qatari envoy Mohamed al-Emadi will visit the Gaza Strip in mid-February to supervise mechanisms for distributing the Qatari Emir’s financial aid and follow up the efforts to finish projects already funded by his country.
According to the Qatari committee for the reconstruction of Gaza, the Qatari grant will mainly support the health sector in Gaza and enable it to purchase fuel and medical supplies for its hospitals and facilities, and will also be used to buy basic foodstuffs for the population.
Emadi, head of Qatar’s committee for the reconstruction of Gaza, will also visit sites in Gaza to check on Qatari projects still underway and to inaugurate others that were finished.
Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Al Thani has given directives to urgently provide about nine million dollars in aid for Gaza and delegated ambassador Emadi to oversee the distribution of aid in coordination with the competent Palestinian authorities.
